Environment

Industrialisation has brought in our environment – air, water and soil – several organic and inorganic chemicals. Some of them (e. g. polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, heavy metals and many others) are known carcinogens to humans. They increase the risk of lung and skin cancer, hemato- and lymphopoetic tissue, bladder, liver, nose and sinuses and some others. The burden of cancer, attributable to environment pollution is far less than the one due to unhealthy lifestyle; it has been estimated to less than 5%.
