Occupational exposures

Occupational exposures are much less important in the overall burden of cancer than life styles. It has been estimated that about 5% of all cancers are attributable to carcinogens in the workplace. The most common cancers that may be a consequence of chemicals or physical agents in the workplace are cancer of lung, skin, bladder, pleura and peritoneum (well known mesothelioma due to asbestos), lymph nodes, liver, kidney, leukemia and to lesser extent some others.
