  • Vegetables and fruit protect against cancer of digestive and respiratory system (mouth, pharynx, stomach, lung and pancreas), vegetables only are probably protective in hormone-related cancers (breast, uterine corpus and prostate). The most protective are raw, fresh yellow-green vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, leafy salad, garlic, onions, tomatoes, other vegetables and citrus fruits. There are many reasons why vegetables and fruits may protect against cancer. As well as containing vitamins and minerals, which help keep the body healthy and strengthen our immune system, they are also good sources of other protective substances like phytochemicals. Vegetables and fruits contain many vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and many other protective substances, that can not be replaced by any multivitamin pill. As far as to our current knowledge, there are many vitamins and minerals in natural vegetables and fruits that act in balance only, when ingested from natural food items and not as a pharmaceutical product.
