The Slovenian Cancer Registry is part of the Division of Epidemiology and Cancer Registry at the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana. The Division focuses on oncology at the population level, collecting data on all cancer patients in Slovenia, including information on their disease characteristics and treatment. The collected data are processed, analysed, and interpreted to provide evidence-based information on the cancer burden in Slovenia.

As part of our work, we also analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of cancer patient care and the implementation of the National Cancer Control Programme. We regularly place our findings in an international context, which enables data comparability and a better understanding of the burden of cancer more broadly.

Research and education are also important parts of our work. We participate in numerous domestic and international research projects and serve as a training centre for students and professionals in the fields of cancer epidemiology and public health.
