The SLORA portal provides cancer data for residents of the Republic of Slovenia with permanent residence in Slovenia, regardless of where they were treated or where they died.

Data are available for the following periods:

• incidence from 1961 onwards,
• mortality and prevalence from 1985 onwards.

The main source of data on incidence and prevalence is the Slovenian Cancer Registry, which provides high-quality and comprehensive data on all Slovenian cancer patients in accordance with international standards. Due to the complexity of data collection and verification, the data are published with a certain time lag relative to the year of diagnosis, which is consistent with international practice. The database is continuously supplemented and updated, and these changes are also reflected on the SLORA web portal. This also applies to data already published in reports or other publications.

Important: Due to real-time updates, the data presented today may differ from previous presentations or from the data in the annual reports of the Slovenian Cancer Registry or international cancer databases. When citing data obtained from the SLORA web portal, it is therefore necessary to specify the date the data were retrieved.

Mortality data are collected by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), which processes and reports them in accordance with the international guidelines of the World Health Organization. There may be minor discrepancies between the NIJZ’s official mortality data and the data displayed on the SLORA portal, resulting from methodological differences.
